Whimsical - Sourcing GuayaB

We came across this lot from one of our import partners, Royal Coffee. Huehuetenango is one of Guatemala’s most renowned coffee regions, known for its high altitudes, dramatic terrain, and microclimates that produce bright, complex coffees. But it’s also one of the most challenging places to grow and export coffee. Roads are rugged, the weather is extreme, and most farms are just a few acres in size.

That’s where GUAYA’B Asociación Civil comes in. The cooperative’s centralized wet mill plays a critical role, ensuring consistent quality while easing the burden of costly processing equipment for smallholders. Cherries are carefully sorted, fermented for 36–48 hours, washed, and patio-dried to 11% moisture, producing clean, high-quality lots with traceability back to the women who grew them.

By sourcing from the women of GUAYA’B, we’re not only bringing you a beautiful, whimsical cup, we’re supporting a system of farming rooted in equity, sustainability, and care.
