About the Producer: Guaya’b Asociación Civil (GUAYA’B)
The Manos de Mujer program within GUAYA’B empowers 115 women smallholders, each farming just a few acres of land. Together, they’ve created a traceable women-produced lot that showcases the vibrant flavours of Huehuetenango while also ensuring greater financial returns for the producers.
Beyond coffee, GUAYA’B provides vital resources to its members: technical training, soil analysis, micro-financing for farm upkeep, and education on organic fertilizer production. During harvest, the cooperative even runs a childcare program so women can work their farms knowing their children are safe and supported.
By pooling resources and knowledge, these women are producing exceptional coffees, building stronger communities and transforming opportunities for the next generation.
Sourcing in Guatemala
We came across this lot from one of our import partners, Royal Coffee. Huehuetenango is one of Guatemala’s most renowned coffee regions, known for its high altitudes, dramatic terrain, and microclimates that produce bright, complex coffees. But it’s also one of the most challenging places to grow and export coffee. Roads are rugged, the weather is extreme, and most farms are just a few acres in size.
That’s where GUAYA’B Asociación Civil comes in. The cooperative’s centralized wet mill plays a critical role, ensuring consistent quality while easing the burden of costly processing equipment for smallholders. Cherries are carefully sorted, fermented for 36–48 hours, washed, and patio-dried to 11% moisture, producing clean, high-quality lots with traceability back to the women who grew them.
By sourcing from the women of GUAYA’B, we’re not only bringing you a beautiful, whimsical cup, we’re supporting a system of farming rooted in equity, sustainability, and care.

I enjoyed this coffee. I got dark chocolate and smoky notes when I brewed it in a Chemex brewer. Excellent after dinner coffee.
This is a great coffee that feels very familiar but, as the name implies, has a bit of something fun. The initial taste I got was more roasty and sweet, but then you get a bit of brightness and acidity which I love in a cup. The brightness comes through more as the coffee cools. As with other Guatemalan coffees I’ve had, acidity is pretty low overall but it’s present here enough to add some levity. This would be a nicely balanced option for someone getting into single origin coffees.
This was my favorite coffee from the kit. Really sweet and comfortable. Definitely gonna get more of it!
This is a fantastic blend. I usually drink my coffee with milk but this was extremely smooth with an almost creamy texture when I drank it black.
