Coffee Chunky Monkey Smoothie

Coffee Chunky Monkey Smoothie

Are you a smoothie person? I’m definitely a smoothie person these days but I wasn’t always a fan. It took me a while to figure out how to make a really good smoothie. It took a lot of trial and error to get the right flavour and consistency I liked.

These days my smoothie game is on point. I normally have a Chocolate Cherry Smoothie post-workout but sometimes I switch it up with something a little more fun, like the recipe I’m sharing today for a Coffee Chunky Monkey Smoothie! So, so satisfying!

It contains a caffeine kick for those days where you need the extra bolt of energy. I usually save this smoothie for a once-in-a-while kind of treat and will normally have it post-workout because it is full of great nutrients and fuels me until my next meal.

I don’t recommend making this smoothie ahead of time. The taste and texture changes the longer it sits. However you can add all the ingredients to the blender cup and leave in the fridge overnight to blend the next morning for a quick meal-prep option. Check the recipe out below. If you try it let me know how you like it in the comments!

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup rolled oats (you can use quick oats, but rolled oats contain more nutrients)
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds or hemp seeds
  • ½ medium banana, preferably frozen
  • 100mL concentrated cold brew (or you can pull a double espresso shot)
  • ¼ cup milk or water
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp almond butter (or other nut/seed butter of choice)
  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder (I’m currently using this one which is grass-fed New Zealand whey)
  • 2 ice cubes, optional

Preparation:

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a blender (I use a Nutri-Bullet).
  2. If your banana is not frozen, add 1-2 ice cubes to the blender.
  3. Blend everything together until completely smooth.
  4. Pour into your favourite glass and enjoy!
